Content Policy

Requests or communications about homepage content should be directed to the University Web Manager.

Homepage content is considered, evaluated and developed by the University Web Manager, Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President of Advancement and the Office of the President.

The primary purpose of home page content is to promote Humboldt to internal and external audiences by delivering positive marketing messages, announcing high profile events and broadcasting our best success stories. Topics will be selected based on strategic institutional recruitment and marketing goals. Topics will be prioritized based on the size of the intended or interested audience, strength of its message to support recruitment goals, and conventions established on university home pages by equivalent institutions.

Link Policy

Requests or communications about home page links should be directed to the University Web Manager.

Home page links are intended to provide general University information to prospective students and visitors, and to direct frequent home page users to needed sub-sites. The number of links available on the home page is limited, and priorities are determined jointly by the University Web Manager, Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President of Advancement and the Office of the President.

Links will not be provided from the home page to web sites where content is not controlled by University administrators, faculty, or staff, or where the content does not support strategic marketing goals.

Banner Policy

Requests or communications about home page photographic banners should be made to the Web Manager.

Home page banner content is determined by the University Web Manager, Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President of Advancement and the Office of the President.

The primary purpose of home page banners is to highlight Humboldt's major Points of Pride to prospective students and their parents. Secondary purposes include internal marketing to faculty, staff, and students, and external marketing to visitors, supporters and community members. Points of Pride are defined as programs, characteristics or accomplishments that set Humboldt apart from other institutions, have wide recognition, high merit, or high marketing potential. To be considered for a home page banner, a one-sentence tag line, a high-quality photograph illustrating the tag line, and a three to four paragraph story illustrating the tag line must be submitted.
